Edward Leach

Edward began his career as a singer in the choirs of Ipswich School, before taking up a choral scholarship at Jesus College, University of Cambridge. Having graduated with a first class degree in Musicology he embarked upon a career as a music tutor and teacher, before establishing himself as a freelance singer in London, singing with many choirs and ensembles.
During this time Edward's professional experience ranged from Monteverdi Vespers to Stockhausen opera, and saw him perform in such varied venues as the Frari Church in Venice, a warehouse in Birmingham, and as far afield as Beijing. Edward now studies privately with Stephanie Doll.
Recent concert engagements include Bach's Matthew Passion (evangelist, arias), John Passion (evangelist, arias), various Bach and Telemann Cantatas, and Handel's Messiah. He enjoys the opportunity to perform more contemporary works; recent performances include Stockhausen's Stimmung in the Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, and David Lang's Little Match Girl Passion in the Concertgebouw. In recital Edward has performed all the major song cycles by Schumann, as well as Beethoven (An die ferne Geliebte) and Britten (On this Island; Winter Words) in varied programmes including repertoire by Purcell, Handel, Britten and Wolf.
